India, officially the Republic of India, is a country in South Asia.
History
India was created on August 15, 1947, after being recognized by the United States. The current president is Draupadi Murmu, and the Prime Minister being Narendra Modi.
In 1856, multiple indian kingdoms like the Oudh State, Mughal Empire, Delhi Sultanate and many others were colonized by the British Empire. The British Raj would then be formed on the year of 1858. The capital of the British Raj was formed into the city of Shimla which is now in modern day India.
On Mar 8, 1944, Imperial Japanese troops marched into the Burmese city of Imphal. Japanese armies attempted to defeat the allied forces and capture British-occupied Burma, but were driven back with heavy losses.
In 1947, Mahatma Gandhi hosted a non-violent revolution also known as "Satyagraha" with dozens of protestors. On August 15th, 1947, the British left the indian subcontinent, and split it between India, Pakistan, East Pakistan (Bangladesh) and Ceylon (Sri Lanka.)[1]
